I think it's worth pointing out that it's so cool that you can publish books on Amazon with little or no publishing experience and be able to get a high quality product which can be purchased physically and arrive at your door in days. Publishing a book of any type can seem such a daunting task at first. There are so many potential book creators who simply do not have the resources to publish a book on their own and do not have the required connections or clout in the publishing industry to get their books published, and that's such a shame because there are so many books which never get published.

Today, Amazon makes it so easy for an amateur book publisher to make their works available. Youtuber Viyaura made an excellent video breaking down the process of creating books on KDP.

I was definitely stoked to begin exploring the KDP publishing process after watching this video. As she shows in the video, it's unlikely for someone to immediately start making lots of money on this platform right away. However, as someone who has always been in interested in the concept of publishing, this video provides an excellent overview of how to get started right away with minimal investment of capital.

It's worth noting that there are other self publishing platforms available online which may even give more favorable terms to the publisher. These include Draft2Digital, Smashwords and Barnes and Noble Press. I have not explore these platforms though they may be worth discussing in another post. But I can attest that a person can follow these steps and get a tangible product within days, and I think that's pretty cool.

But how about you? Do you believe that online self publishing tools are a good thing? Or do you believe that a hierarchical system of gatekeepers is a better system? Let me know in the comments.
